Can you believe it? It’s already February. Before you know it, we’ll be getting ready for Christmas…
This Summer may seem like so far away, but one of the secrets to travel-hacking is to book your award flights as early as you can – if you can plan your trip that far in advance.
If you read my previous blog when we flew British Airways – Club World where we didn’t use any miles, instead we scored a ridiculously discounted return business class fares for LAX-LHR route, we currently have a one-way business class booking from London to Los Angeles for this summer (from last year’s booking). Which now leaves me having to find some good deals or outbound award seats from Los Angeles to London. And boy did I find it!
Virgin Atlantic – New Upper Class Suite on A330
I was looking into Virgin Atlantic because we already have 50,000 miles sitting in Virgin’s Flying Club frequent flyer account (from last year’s cancelled redemption) and we have never flown with Virgin Atlantic, so this is our chance to try flying with them!
Booking an Award Flight via the Virgin Atlantic website is very straightforward and you will require no tutorial whatsoever since they make it so easy for you to choose between – Use Money, Spend Your Miles, or Use Your Money & Miles.
While there was ZERO availability for an Upper Class seat on the LAX to LHR (London) route in the month of July, there were almost daily availability on JFK (New York) to LHR route in all cabins.
One example of seat availability in July 2016 The cost required to redeem 2 (Adult) seats plus a lap infant with Virgin Atlantic
After transferring additional miles from my Chase Ultimate Reward Points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club which was made available instantly, I went ahead and book these seats before they are gone. Virgin Atlantic’s airline partners include :
- Delta Airlines
- Gulf Air
- Hawaiian Airlines
- Malaysia Airlines
- Scandinavian Airlines
- South African Airways
- Virgin America
- Virgin Australia
You are also able to redeem Singapore Airlines’ Krisflyer miles for an award flight with Virgin Atlantic by calling SQ Contact Center.
I’m very excited that we will get to experience flying Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class for the first time and we will get to go to New York again! +)
