The name Movenpick may not cross your mind as the most luxurious or exclusive brand out there, as it is often associated with a Swiss ice cream brand.
However, I can attest that my experience this past weekend staying at the Movenpick Resort & Spa in Jimbaran, Bali would reflect otherwise.
Movenpick Hotels and Resorts is a hotel management company headquartered in Baar, Switzerland. They launched their very first hotel properties at Zurich Airport in 1976. Over the years they’ve expanded as hotel operators and have established presence in South East Asia including Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and most recently in Bali, Indonesia.
I had the privilege to stay in the Movenpick Resort and Spa in Jimbaran, Bali as a birthday weekend treat and experienced more than I expected from a resort named after an ice cream brand.
Here are the Top 8 Reasons Why I Would Go Back to Movenpick Resort and Spa in Bali, a lot sooner than later:
- Above Eleven Rooftop Bar
A sucker for rooftop lounges, sunsets and oceans, this place has it all. Serving Peruvian food and a selection of fusion menu, be sure to come here around sunset time as you can see the view of the hotel pool and Jimbaran Bay. Not to be missed.
At night, the venue would play movies (including kids movies) and air sports matches at their Gramercy Park rooftop area.
You can have an adult time at the bar, while your kids are watching cartoons complete with babysitting service. Can it get any better than this parents?
2. Pool Area
Saying the pool area is ‘large’ is a complete understatement. You would probably need to stay at the resort for the whole week if you want to enjoy every corner of the pool.
There’s an area for everyone from toddlers, older kids to the adult pool. The salt water pool makes the sand-play area feels like you’re already at the beach…
The cabana is one of the best areas to lounge in the whole day…
3. The Semi-Private Beach
Just a 5-minute walk to Jimbaran Bay via the hotel’s walk path – shuttle service is also available (although unnecessary considering the distance), the public beach didn’t seem very public at all even though we were there during a long-weekend holiday.
4. Kids Club
From a complete indoor playground (slides, swings, ball-pit, rope climbing), to various kids activities, media room and playstation area, the Kids Club would be the highlight for all parents (not just the kids).
While lounging in the pool, children over the age of 6 can spend the day at the club supervised by the certified staff.
5. The Hotel Rooms
My photos doesn’t do the hotel any justice since I forgot to pack my fancy camera.
But the rooms looks a lot more glamorous than it actually is. From a standard king or double room, a junior suite, a family room and a luxurious Jimbaran Pool Suite complete with a private plunge pool from your suite’s living room.
Price per night for a standard room starts from around IDR 1,700,000 or USD 125 during the low season.
6. The Food (Anarasa Restaurant)
When staying in a luxury hotel in Indonesia, the breakfast buffet is one of the experiences I really look forward to.
Served in Anarasa Restaurant at the hotel’s pool level, the variety of food is exceptional.
A complete selection of food from western to eastern dishes, you definitely do not want to have breakfast anywhere else while staying at the hotel.
The food buffet presentation and quality of food is pretty high up there. To make things even better, there’s a dedicated kids area with a selection of children’s buffet breakfast for those staying with younger kids.
I’d choose to sit at the terrace while having a fancy breakfast with your squad.
7. Hotel Lobby
You could tell if a hotel would have the potential to be any good the moment you arrive at the lobby.
The hotel lobby had a wow factor because of it’s open plan design with a viewing deck at the back of the lobby overlooking the pool and ocean.
8. The Service
One of the most important thing I’d value from staying in hotels is not just the hard products but of course the level of service.
We’ve experienced a consistent five-star service through out our stay, from check-in process, receiving a welcoming gift, the in-room dining to poolside service.
Every single hotel staff we’d encounter on premise would greet and smile courteously, which is something that may seem very easy to do but it is quote surprising how some hotels do not have the same level of courtesy.
It’s one of those small things that would make a difference in every guest’ hotel experience.
Overall, this resort would be perfect for families or travelers who simply needs to wind down.
I don’t know about you, but we’re already planning for our come back with the entire squad very very soon!
A personal thank you to Anne from the Movenpick Management for your warm hospitality during our stay.
